vRealize Automation allows you to integrate active directory & other directories for authentication & user access in vRA portals. So in this post we will see on How you can easily integrate active directory in vRealize Automation.
When you deploy vRA you will give access to the different teams in your environment so that they can request for the resources such as virtual machines but for giving them access vRA allows you to directly integrate active directory of your environment into vRA. So you don’t need to create local users & assign them permissions , you can simply integrate active directory & choose users & groups which you want to give access to vRA portal.
So let’s see How to integrate active directory in vRealize Automation:
Login to vRA appliance using the Tenant admin.
Go to Administration Tab > Expand Directories management.
Click on Green Plus icon Add directory & choose Add active directory over LDAP/IWA.
Provide the Directory name , choose sync connector.
If you are using the multiple vRA instances in your environment for availability than it you can select any one sync connector from drop down.
Scroll down the page.
Provide the Domain details such as Domain name, domain admin username & password.
Provide the Bind user details
Click Save & Next to continue.
Select the Domain & click Next.
Here you can Map user attributes based on your requirement.
Click Next to continue.
Click on green plus icon to specify the Group DNs & click Next to continue.
You can also click on Select button to add the groups you want to give access to vRA.
Click on Green plus icon to provide the User DNs to sync.
Click Next to continue.
You can review the configuration of groups & users.
Click on Edit to change the frequency of sync.
Here you can set the frequency where AD users & groups will be sync to vRA.
Click Sync Directory to sync the active directory with vRA.
As you can see that sync is started it will be completed is few seconds.
You can logout of vRA & you will see that you can choose your AD domain for login.
You can login using the AD domain user to verify the successful integration of active directory in vRA.
That’s it, Using this way you can easily integrate your active directory in vRealize Automation to provide the local users access to vRA portal & give them specific permissions to request the resources in the future.
