vRealize Automation works on the tenants so when you install the vRA you will have only one administrator account which is used in setup of tenant but for further configuration of tenant & Iaas we required to create local users as a tenant admin & IaaS admin for configuration of tenants, endpoints, reservations etc.
In this post we will create a single user & give that user permission as tenant admin & IaaS admin but in case of production environment you should go for proper user management where each user has specific roles assigned.
Login to vRA using the administrator account & the password which we set during the installation.
You will see the default tenant vsphere.local is present here.
So click on default tenant to create local users for vsphere.local
Go to Local users tab. click on Green Plus icon as shown below to create new local user.
Provide the user details such as first name, last name, email, username & password.
Click OK to create the user.
You can see that local user is created successfully, now we will assign permissions to the user.
Go to Administrators tab.
Here you will see 2 permissions which are Tenant admin& IaaS admin.
We haven’t assigned any user permission so it is showing as blank.
Type the username in the search box & add the user in both Tenant admin as well as IaaS admin.
If you want you can create 2 users and assign both different permissions as well.
Click Finish to confirm & save.
Now we have create the local users & assigned the permissions to them. You can verify by logging in using the local user.
That’s it , using this way you must first create local users before using the vRealize Automation. In the next post we will see on how you can configure the branding in the vRealize Automation so that you can give vRA your own customized look.
