Entitlements in vRA determine which users and groups can request specific catalog items or perform specific actions. Entitlements are specific to a business group. You can entitle an entire service category, which entitles all of the catalog items in that service, including items that are added to the service after you create the entitlement. In this post we will see on How to configure entitlements in vRealize Automation.
For each service, catalog item, or action that you entitle, you can optionally specify an approval policy to apply to requests for that item. So that when the end user requests for the service or the catalog items it goes to the approver for approval process, once approves approves then only service or catalog items will be provisioned.
Entitlements is part of catalog management but we have keep different post because of it’s configuration.
So let’s see how to configure entitlements in vRealize Automation:
Login to vRealize Automation console.
Go to Administration tab.
Expand Catalog management.
Here you will see empty because we haven’t configured any entitlements yet.
Click on Green plus icon to create new entitlement.
Provide the Name & Description for the entitlement.
You can even set the expiration date for entitlement so after the date is expired entitlement will be removed.

Now click on green plus icon to entitle items.
Here you can entitle the items that you have created.
You can entitle single and multiple services as well.

Click OK to save & close the prompt.
We have Entitled services & items , now we have to entitle actions for the items so that we can allow different actions for the end user.
Click on Green Plus icon to Entitle actions.
Here you can see available Actions for the entitled items so you can choose to allow or disallow actions for the end user.
Select the actions which you want to provide to the end user so he can perform specific tasks.

Now we can check the entitlement by logging in as end user.
Login using the end user into vRA portal.
Here you can see that catalog items which are available for the user .
That’s it, Using this way you can entitle single or many services & catalog items to the end users so they can request for the resources when they required.
